Local Lib Dems fight Tory tip plans

The Conservative County Council wants to open a new waste tip in the heart of our town.

The planned site in Tutts Barn Lane is opposite the playing fields of Stafford School and close to the two Thomas a'Beckett schools. Governors and Parents at all three schools have opposed these plans.

Local Lib Dems led by Cllr David Tutt are leading the campaign against the Tory County Council's plans.

David Tutt said, "There is real anger about this. The site is completely inappropriate for this kind of development. We will fight alongside local residents in the battle to stop these plans."

The planned waste site would not only be close to three schools but also a nursery, allotments, farm land for grazing animals and the District General Hospital.

Hundreds of local people have written to the Council objecting to these plans. Yet at the moment their calls are being ignored by senior Conservative Councillors.
