Local residents are being let down by their Conservative run Councils. It has been revealed that both the Borough and County Councils are failing to meet even their own targets.

At the County Council, the Conservative have failed to hit targets to improve educational standards or to bring more economic investment in East Sussex. Other failures include failing to improve services for older people or passenger transport.

Lib Dem Councillor Maurice Skilton said, "Council Tax bills continue to rise, but the services people receive are actually getting worse. Local people deserve better."

At the same time the Borough Council's Conservative leaders have received bad news from external organisations charged with assessing their performance. The Council's Housing arm "Eastbourne Homes" gained only a single star rating, whilst the external auditor was only prepared to give a qualified sign off to the Borough Council's financial statements.

Lib Dem leader David Tutt said, "Eastbourne is a great town, but it is being let down by its Conservative leaders. It's time for a change."
