Recent reports of a proposed motor bike track on the Shinewater Playing Fields have lead Langney councillor Troy Tester to consult with local residents. He said "though I have a lot of sympathy for the aggravation caused to local residents by a small number of local youths riding mini-motorbikes on the streets around Shinewater it is clear to me from the overwhelming response I have received from local residents to my consultation that the proposal for this site is simply not acceptable to those who would have to live with it."

"They have made it absolutely clear to me their opposition to having a motorbike track developed on their back yards."

Specific concerns raised included noise, pollution, security of the site and the potential for increased anti-social behaviour in the surrounding area.

Lib Dem Cllr Tester added "although I support the idea of having such a facility in Eastbourne, clearly a more suitable site which is not surrounded by residential properties is needed."
