Polegate - More Housing Refused!

Polegate County, District and Town Cllr Roy Martin has welcomed the refusal of the latest application to build houses in Polegate - this time on land north of Dittons Road.

Cllr Martin said:

"I spoke against the application at the Wealden District Council Development Control Committee meeting and in support of the objections of Polegate Town Council and local residents because the proposals were totally unsatisfactory.

I have spent a considerable time in the past campaigning for the By Pass to take traffic off Dittons Road because it was so dangerous. I see no point at all in now agreeing to put it all back.

Once again we found the infrastructure needed to support the extra housing is just not there, from health care, to schools, to a library, to roads. I don't want to kick up a stink but even the sewers are not large enough to serve the proposed development."

Willingdon District Cllr and Deputy Chairman of Development Control, Cllr Andy Watkins added:

"I was pleased to propose the refusal of this application to the Committee. It was contrary to many policies in the Local Plan and attracted no support at all."
