Environmental experts have welcomed new Lib Dem plans to tackle climate change. The Lib Dem 'green tax switch' is about taxing people less and taxing polluters more.

A Lib Dem Government will cut income tax by 2p and take 2 million low paid families out of income tax altogether. At the same time, taxes on pollution will be increased.

The greener your habits, the more of your tax cut you will keep.

The Lib Dems also want to invest more in renewable energy. They are opposed to Conservative and Labour plans to build more nuclear power stations.

Eastbourne Campaigner Stephen Lloyd said, "Tony Blair and David Cameron have offered nothing but hot air on the environment. Only Ming Campbell's Liberal Democrats have effective policies to tackle global warming."

Old Town Lib Dem green campaigner Greg Szanto added, "'I am convinced the most effective way to implement green policies and save our planet is to vote Lib Dem."
