Over 100 local businesses across Eastbourne are backing Stephen Lloyd's campaign to stop the closure of four Post Offices.

Stephen said: "It is deplorable that Post Office Ltd are proposing to close the Post Office branches in Marine Parade, Hampden Park, Willingdon and Langney. The knock-on effect for local traders in Eastbourne & Willingdon, if the cuts go through, could be highly damaging. Many shops are backing my campaign even though some may not be directly affected because they recognise the detrimental effect the closure programme will have on the whole town.

"I will be sending a letter to the Post Office National Consultation Team requesting they stop the closure programme and think again. Businesses across Eastbourne have signed my letter. From Meads to Hampden Park, Upperton to Old Town, Ratton to Sovereign, the Town Centre to Devonshire. We are all saying with one voice: Stop the Post Office cuts.

"The support from the public has also been fantastic. In only a few weeks we have collected over 5,000 signatures and I will be sending these with the letter so that Post Office managers can be under no illusion about the strength of feeling against the cuts in Eastbourne, from both residents and local traders."
