Lib Dem Leader Nick Clegg MP yesterday visited the largest Junior School in Europe, where he took part in a question and answer session with young pupils, watched an assembly and helped teach a Spanish lesson.

Nick was given a tour of Eastbourne's Ocklynge Junior School by Headteacher Mark Trott, whose school has over 800 pupils on its roll. Nick was accompanied by local Lib Dem campaigner Stephen Lloyd. Both Nick and Stephen fielded questions from the pupils and teachers on a wide-range of education-related issues.

Nick and Stephen also visited Park College, where a Question and Answer session was held with over 150 local students, on a range of issues from the environment to the financial crisis.

During his trip to Eastbourne Mr Clegg gave his strong backing to Stephen Lloyd, the party's parliamentary campaigner in Eastbourne for the next general election.

Mr Clegg said, "Stephen will make a fine MP. He is a popular, well-known figure in the town and is well liked. For too long Eastbourne's Conservatives have let local people down. With soaring Council Tax bills, the unpopular town parking charges and continuing waste of taxpayers' money, the Conservatives are simply out of touch."
