On Tuesday 16th March, East Sussex County Council published a report on the public consultation of a proposed merger between Rosemands and Stafford School in Eastbourne. The report by the Director of Children's Services rejected the proposal to close the two schools and open a new primary school, but instead supported a proposal to establish a formal partnership of collaboration between the two schools.

Stephen Lloyd, Lib Dem parliamenary spokeman, added: "I am very pleased that County Hall has come to what I beleive is the right decision. Numerous parents and staff had contacted me expressing their concerns at the original proposal and I wrote to the Director of Childrens Services on their behalf. Common sense has prevailed and now I am confident we can look forward to a greater degree of partnership between the two schools while each maintain their unique and special identity, and all to the benefit of local children. I pay tribute to the many families who fought so hard to achieve this excellent result."
